The Cranberry
A destination restaurant that didn’t have front door.
HOSPITALITY · WEST VIRGINIA
THE DIAGNOSIS
The Cranberry is a contemporary boutique hotel on Cheat Lake in West Virginia, built inside a restored bank building. It has a genuinely distinctive character: a beautiful lakeside setting with the warmth and ease of a place that feels like it belongs there. The business was doing some things well, but it lacked direction, and the digital presence reflected that. Generic hospitality language, a cluttered template, a website that looked fifteen years old and felt like no one had cared about it in just as long. No sense of the place, no warmth, no reason to book. Events are an important part of the business, but there were almost no event photos on the site, a missed opportunity to show visitors that the Cranberry is a place where people actually gather, celebrate, and enjoy themselves.
Hotel websites operate in one of the most competitive environments online. A traveler has dozens of options open in adjacent tabs. If a property does not immediately communicate its character and make a person feel something, they are gone in a click. The Cranberry was losing that moment every time.
THE INTERVENTION
The original homepage was corporate and bland. Nothing about it suggested warmth, character, or a reason to choose this place over any other. We rebuilt it around what the Cranberry actually is: a lakeside property with genuine warmth and character, not a roadside option that happens to have rooms available.
The rooms were poorly presented, difficult to distinguish, and photographed in a way that undersold them. We fixed that too. Cleaner presentation, stronger imagery, a clearer path to booking. Guest reviews integrated where they could do real work, building the trust the previous site lacked entirely.
The deeper work is ongoing. The goal is to give the Cranberry a distinctive West Virginia character, something specific and uncopyable, a place that could only exist where it exists. Better photography, stronger positioning, and a fuller expression of what makes this property worth seeking out. That is the work that will make the Cranberry impossible to confuse with anyone else.
THE OUTCOME
This is a long-term engagement. The Cranberry has real character, a lakeside setting, a distinctive history, and the warmth of a place that genuinely cares about its guests. For too long none of that came through online. We are changing that, detail by detail, touchpoint by touchpoint. Better photography, stronger positioning, a clearer and more compelling identity. The businesses that win are the ones that treat their digital presence as a living part of the operation, tended carefully over time. That is what we are building with The Cranberry. Steady, definite growth for a property that deserves to be known.
